Easy enough for everyone and powerful enough for the pros.
#ACOUSTICA MIXCRAFT PRO#
But I use Waves plugins anyways, so I just load up my waves in Mixcraft and I'm good to go! If you are on a tight budget, like simplicity, but still need a lot of DAW power, I would easily recommend Mixcraft 9 Pro Studio.Mixcraft 5 is a powerful yet easy-to-use multi-track recording studio that enables you to record audio, arrange loops, remix tracks, compose with virtual instruments, score and edit video, and add effects to create stunningly professional compositions. In a DAW I look for power coupled with simplicity, and Mixcraft seems to nail both. Hence a lot of DAW's get updated multiple times after initial release. If you have a lot of experience with DAW's you know there is often a bug in there somewhere just waiting to be discovered. I've reported that bug to the company and they said it would be fixed in version 10. To fix this you simply stop and restart playback, or just don't use send effects. Also, there is a bug: when sending channels through sends and soloing more than one track at a time the tracks will playback slightly out of sync with each other. However, there are some things I hope they improve for version 10: There is not as much Zoom capability as most other DAW's so time aligning audio files is more challenging and tedious compared to Cubase. Working on a 14" laptop screen Mixcraft feels easier to see than most other DAWs I've compared it to. I do some producing, recording, mixing, and collaboration with other artists and Mixcraft works very well for all of these applications. It is a very capable DAW, and when you include Melodyne Elements it really makes it hard to beat this for value. The work-flow is super easy and fun! And there are some ways in which Mixcraft actually does seem more capable. This little DAW just makes me feel at home. So yeah, so far really enjoying Mixcraft.

I got the "pro" version of the software which comes with a bunch of extra virtual instruments and plugins so most everything I'd need would be in the box. It's fast to get ideas recorded and then move on to the next part. Mixcraft just clicked with me from the beginning and didn't get in the way of what I was trying to do. In my experience with daws, the ease of workflow is probably most important for me when working in a creative manner.
#ACOUSTICA MIXCRAFT UPGRADE#
Recently I had been using Acid software and really enjoyed the speed of workflow (I like to use loops when writing), but I was needing to upgrade and concerned about future support for Acid so I was looking at alternative.

I also had previously used Ableton Lite and liked its workflow, but from a budget standpoint it was quite a bit pricier. Based on recommendations I also considered Reaper - and after a few hours with it I determined it was just too much complexity and menus for what I was wanting. When looking for a new daw I'd been away from music for about 5yrs. I'm currently not tracking bands - am just laying down one track at a time - mainly in songwriting capacity.

Main style is rock, but I experiment with different things. My main usage is in songwriting and working out layered parts, and then creating a mix. My main desire in a daw is for it to be fairly simple and not get in the way of the creative process. Mixcraft has a workflow that suits me well. And as anyone knows, Sweetwater is the only place to get your gear, software, and free candy.

And being able to do it in Mixcraft has me making music NOW instead of watching tutorials and reading manuals first, and making music LATER.įor me it was the right purchase. So being able to play Virtual Instruments with a keyboard or piano roll / step sequencer lets me do my thing without causing me pain. I broke my back in December, so I can't play the guitar anymore. I am not a professional, I am a hobbyist, and Mixcraft's ease of use and learning curve suited me better than Studio One.

Presonus Studio One may be more powerful and better for professionals, I don't know. It just seemed to be more intuitive and beginner friendly. I didn't have to watch a bunch of tutorials, I was able to learn by doing.

#ACOUSTICA MIXCRAFT TRIAL#
I downloaded Trial version of Mixcraft and the Prime (free) version of Presonus, and compared them. I fiddled around with some free DAWs, decided to get a bit more serious with it, and narrowed down what I wanted to buy to Mixcraft and Presonus Studio One.
